This is the patch I received from the American Littoral Society after I caught a striper with one of their tags and sent back the info they asked for. I used to see a lot of guys tagging schoolies in the spring but haven't seen as many in the last couple of years.          American Littoral Society

"Tagging or marking animals has been an accepted biological method for monitoring wildlife; birds are banded on their legs, black bears and grizzly bears carry radio transmitters. So do sea turtles. Even monarch butterflies have been banded with delicate mylar patches. The reason for doing this is to tell one creature from another so its daily movements or seasonal migrations can be studied and rates of growth can be learned."
